NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week: 10 Places to Grab a Great Lunch

A round-up of some great restaurants offering luscious lunch fare this Restaurant Week

Last updated:
The Golden Flake

A lot of the excitement around NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week focuses on evening dining but don’t forget that many venues are also open at lunchtime and indeed, many of them offer special lunchtime deals that are fantastic value.

We’ve gathered together a few restaurants that are ideal places to spend a long, luxurious lunch or brunch when Restaurant Week returns from 12th to 18th January.

You could be on a shopping trip, or out making a day of it with friends. You could even be having a special lunch in the middle of a busy day at the office, so read on for some top-class early dining inspiration

The Golden Flake, Fenwick

What’s better than a Greggs lunch? A Greggs lunch at The Golden Flake Tavern! This brilliant collaboration between everyone’s favourite pastry professionals and Fenwick has two great deals this Restaurant Week, offering a main and dessert during the day from Monday to Saturday or a two-course Sunday lunch. Its cosy classic pub vibe is perfect for lunchtime dining with the likes of sausage roll and mash or steak bake with all the Sunday lunch trimmings you could ask for - delicious!

Olive Kitchen, Marlborough Crescent

Since opening last year, family run café and bistro Olive Kitchen has been dishing up a delicious breakfast and lunch menu. If you’ve not had a chance to visit yet, then why not head down for Restaurant Week? Their £15 lunch-for-one deal gets you a hearty midday meal featuring tasty fare like hearty baguette sandwiches and loaded fries, sides including onion rings and chilli cheese bites - and they're even throwing in a drink and slice of cake too! If you fancy brunching it up this Restaurant Week, check out their £15 breakfast-for-one deal as well.

The Broad Chare The Broad Chare

The Broad Chare, Broad Chare

Blending fine dining with "proper pub food", The Broad Chare is a Michelin Guide-approved destination offering an irresistible lunchtime Restaurant Week dining deal this January. Get two courses for £20 or three for £25 and treat yourself to dishes like pig's head and black pudding croquette, Chalk Stream trout with chargrilled sprouting broccoli and Yorkshire rhubard spong with vanilla custard.

Hotel Gotham, Pilgrim Street

The glamorous Hotel Gotham opened its doors on Pilgrim Street in late 2025 and we're happy to report that its equally luxurious Siren Restaurant is one of a handful of Restaurant Week newcomers taking part this January. Its debut Restaurant Week menu features some tempting lunchtime offers with a two-course lunch available from Wednesday to Saturday and a two-course Sunday lunch. With starters like Craster smoked fish terrine and cream of onion soup, mains like pan-fried North Sea cod and beef rump with Yorskhire pudding and red wine sauce - plus desserts like the delighfully local sounding sticky broon ale and date pudding - Hotel Gotham's Restaurant Week debut is bound to delight lunchtime diners.

The WonderBar, The Gate

For a slightly more casual Sunday lunch this Restaurant Week, look no further than The WonderBar. Their £15 offer will get you a three-course Sunday lunch including starters like a classic prawn cocktail, mains including a choice of roast turkey or rolled pork loin with all the trimmings and desserts like apple and berry crumble. Dining out during the week? Don't miss out on The WonderBar's three street food dishes and a dessert offer for £15 either - it's available from 12pm!

Cafe Andaluz Cafe Andaluz

Café Andaluz, Grey Street

Brighten up your lunchtime with a taste of Spain, brought to Toon by Café Andaluz! This Grey Street hotspot is putting sad sandwiches to shame with their Restaurant Week deal offering three tapas at lunch for £15. From patatas bravas and Padrón peppers to croquetas and chorizo, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

I Scream for Pizza, Quayside

If the work diary is stacked and you don’t quite have time for a sit-down meal – fret not! I Scream for Pizza has you covered this Restaurant Week. They have a trio of great deals priced at £15, £20 and £25 with all featuring their iconic pizzas and extras like dips, chicken wings and garlic knots - perfect for lunch with workmates or a family feast.

Meat:Stack, Groat Market

No-one does proper indulgent burgers quite like Meat:Stack, and this Restaurant Week they’re dishing up some flippin’ great deals. There are £15, £20 and £25 offers to take advantage of, but rest assured that all of them include their iconic real American cheeseburgers. Talk about delicious!

Lubber Kitchen Lubber Kitchen

Lubber Kitchen, Blandford Street

Residing within Newcastle’s brilliant indie music venue The Lubber Fiend, Restaurant Week newbie Lubber Kitchen specialises in seasonal fare and has two great lunchtime deals offering two courses for £15 or three for £20. Go with a group to enjoy a mixed mezze platter to share, followed by mains including Provencal fish stew or a lasagne of cavolo nero, chestnut and taleggio cheese plus twice-baked chocolate and olive oil cake to finish.

Acropolis, Grainger Market

For some tasty lunchtime grub on the go this Restaurant Week, look no further than Grainger Market's multi-award winning purveyors of Greek street food, Acropolis. They've got two great deals going that are perfect for a lunchtime treat. Grab a wrap and a side for just £15 or a regular platter and a side for just £20 - with options like chicken gyro and lamb kofta plus sides like Greek olives and fried halloumi bites to choose from.

These are just a few of the restaurants offering some splendid lunch-friendly deals during NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week and they all provide a perfect excuse to make your midday meal something more special than a sandwich from the chiller cabinet and a disappointing coffee. So, get booking and make lunchtime more than a chore!

NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week, in association with Tyne and Wear Metro, takes place from Monday 12th January 2026 to Sunday 18th January 2026. For more information visit: www.getintonewcastle.co.uk/ne1-events/restaurant-week.
