Newcastle's Christmas

Every Christmas, NE1 teams works together with Newcastle City Council to make the festive season in the city memorable and magical

In partnership with Newcastle City Council, the city centre will once again be transformed into a winter wonderland with stunning festive lights, enchanting Christmas Markets, and the Christmas Village bringing holiday cheer to everyone.

Running from 15th November to 23rd December 2025, and open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, the Christmas Markets feature a dazzling mix of creative crafters, bakers, and scrumptious street food, with over 95% of traders being local to region! This year, they're bigger and better than ever before, extending into Nelson Street, and there are some fantasticically festive new additions to Newcastle's Christmas Village at Old Eldon Square too.

What's new for 2025?

Nelson Street

For the first time ever, Newcastle's Christmas Markets will extend into Nelson Street near Grainger Market. That means even more market traders and even more places to shop for Christmas gifts!

New Events at Newcastle's Christmas Village

After a successful debut last year, we're happy to report that Newcastle's Christmas village is returning for 2025. Popular events and rides like Santa Stories, Rockin' Reindeer and the traditional carousel will return and are joined by several exciting new additions including Mrs Claus' Bakery, Festive Flix and even a Ferris wheel. And, as ever, there'll be food stalls cooking up delicious grub too!

Visit the official Newcastle's Christmas website - your one-stop shop for all things festive - for more information about what's happening in the city.
