St Nicholas' Square

An oasis of calm in the heart of old Newcastle

St Nicholas Square in the shadow of the iconic Newcastle Cathedral

Nestled in the shadow of the iconic Newcastle Cathedral, St Nicholas’ Square is a permanent pocket park located in the heart of the city’s most historic quarter.

Formerly a simple paved area, St Nicholas' Square now features several landscaped areas ideal for relaxing as you marvel at the magnificent architecture of the Cathedral and the imposing nearby statue of Queen Victoria erected in 1903.

Established by NE1 in partnership with Newcastle Cathedral and Newcastle City Council, the park is perfectly situated to take in the historic sights of the city.
