NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week: 12 Great Date Night Ideas

Romance your loved ones this Restaurant Week with our date night idea round-up

Last updated:
The French Quarter

NE1's Newcastle Restaurant Week comes round but twice a year and is the perfect chance for you to treat your beloved to a special night out.

There are lots of reasons to go out for a meal during Restaurant Week - great deals, new restaurants and new cuisines - but perhaps the best reason is date night. Don't make Valentine's Day the only time you and your partner get to dress up and go out - treat yourselves to a lovely meal this summer too!

In the spirit of all things date night, we've rounded up some of the most romantic restaurants taking part this January so read on, get booked up and surprise your other half with a delicious meal out.

The French Quarter, Arch 6, Westgate Road

This charming outpost of the Loire Valley has been presenting delicious French cuisine in a cosy, friendly, bistro-style environment for a few years now. A beguiling blend of small plates and main courses, their Restaurant Week offer is two courses for £20 or three for £25 and that includes such temptations as tartare de betterave (beetroot tartare with toasted pumpkin seeds and herbs), and pain perdu (brioche ‘French toast’ with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream).

Gino D’Acampo Restaurant, Quayside

A beautifully appointed, nicely located Quayside restaurant is Gino’s, which has bel paese charm and Latin romance in spades. It also has an excellent two courses for £20 and three for £25 offer so you can enjoy dishes like bruschetta al pomodoro, pizza picante or tiramisú and still have money left for the cab home.

DOOD DOOD

DOOD, Newcastle Quayside

Since first opening its doors a couple of years ago, DOOD’s taste of Persia and the ancient Levant has gained the restaurant plenty of fans across the city. Their atmospheric interiors – including original features, vintage lighting, exposed brick walls and stunning views across the Tyne – make this an ideal date night spot. But if you need more convincing, their sophomore Restaurant Week menu isn’t half bad either, with their £25 offer getting you a starter, main and a side including the likes of blistered padrón peppers, jujeh chicken kebab and Persian jewelled rice. They're even throwing in hummus and pita to share - ideal for looking lovingly into each other's eyes as you dip!

Salparo, Side

Intimate Side restaurant Salparo prides itself on their fine Greek food, and there’s no better time than Restaurant Week to give it a go for date night! Their name literally translates to “sail away”, so why not step on-board together with two tapas dishes for £20, or three for £25, and enjoy everything from prawn saganaki to Greek spanakopita to pick from.

The Green Room, Market Street

If your date is more of a theatre buff, then a trip to The Green Room should definitely be on the cards. Adjacent to Newcastle’s very own Theatre Royal, their interiors take inspiration from the theatre’s colorful characters and stories – with something new to see in every nook and cranny. Their Restaurant Week menu isn’t too shabby either, with two courses for £20, or three for just £25, with courses including truffled woodland mushrooms, seared sea bass, and slow-cooked apple tart.

3SIXTY 3SIXTY

3SIXTY, Hadrian's Tower, Rutherford Street

Enjoy date night with a view at 3SIXTY this Restaurant Week with their £20 a la carte offer. Dine on two courses featuring starters like fish taco bites and butter chicken bao followed by mouth-watering mains including 36-day matured rump steak and pan-fried seabass.

The Botanist, Monument Mall

With its atmospheric lighting and of course its incredible botanical interiors, it’s no wonder that The Botanist has been a staple date night spot for so long. If you’re overdue a visit, then why not book a table for two this Restaurant Week, with two courses for £20 and three for £25? Those legendary hanging kebabs are on the menu too, of course!

Hotel du Vin & Bistro Hotel du Vin & Bistro

Hotel du Vin & Bistro, City Road

Hotel du Vin’s stunning Edwardian building houses an even more spectacular dining venue inside – Bistro du Vin, one of several hotel restaurants taking part in Restaurant Week this January. Renewed fireplaces, art and gentle lighting create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying their Restaurant Week menu with your nearest and dearest, whether you dig into two courses for £20 or three for £25. Fine French fare is the order of the day this Restaurant week, so expect the likes of champignons sautés (sautéed mushrooms, madeira sauce, toasted sourdough), poulet jaune élevé au maïs (corn fed chicken breast, ratte potato, lyonaise salad) and crème brûlée to be dished up throughout the week.

Gaucho, Market Street

Gaucho’s Grade II listed building is definitely date-night-worthy, boasting snug booths and warm lighting that make dining there a delight! There’s three courses for £25 here, including the likes of chicken and chorizo empanadas, 250g Argentine-marinated rump steak, and sticky toffee pudding. Delicious!

Hotel Gotham, Pilgrim Street

If you haven’t had a peek inside the newly opened Hotel Gotham on Pilgrim Street yet, then Restaurant Week is the perfect time, with their luxurious restaurant, Siren, taking part for the very first time. Casually elegant dining is the focus here, with a focus on local produce that’s sure to impress whether it’s a first date… or you’ve just lost count! Their £25 deal offers two courses at lunch or dinner, or a two-course Sunday lunch and features mouth-watering options like Craster smoked fish terrine, hand rolled pasta and a classic crème brulee.

SOKU at Assemble SOKU at Assemble

SOKU at Assemble, Old Eldon Square

Since first opening their doors last year, Assemble has quickly become a foodie hotspot, and that’s largely down to the talented SOKU Kitchen taking up residence there. For their Restaurant Week debut, they’re certainly not holding back, with one snack and two small plates for £20, and the option to tag on a dessert for an extra fiver. The snug Old Eldon Square venue is perfect for intimate dining with your date, and there’s an impressive wine list to make the most of too!

Victors, Quayside

And last, but by no means least, how about date night at Victors this Restaurant Week? Book a table in its gorgeous, flower-filled dining room and enjoy two courses for £20 or three for £25 with dishes like crispy panko squid, flat iron steak and Biscoff sticky toffee pudding.

Date Night isn’t just an American rom-com movie with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey... although that’s pretty good. It’s also a chance to reconnect with your partner, escape from the kids or the domesticity and just eat great food in a great restaurant with – hopefully – great company. And all for a great price with NE1's Newcastle Restaurant Week!

NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week, in association with Tyne and Wear Metro, takes place from Monday 12th January 2026 to Sunday 18th January 2026. For more information visit: www.getintonewcastle.co.uk/ne1-events/restaurant-week.
