Bamboozle adapts Michael Morpurgo’s enchanting story, Gentle Giant, into an immersive, multi-sensory experience for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Using Bamboozle‘s own immersive style, the show welcomes our audience members individually, tailoring each moment to their needs.
Set in the Scottish fishing village of Ballyloch, Gentle Giant tells the tale of a man – a giant of a man - who lives on an island in a beautiful lake. Turned away by the local villagers because he looks different, the giant leads a lonely life on his island. Then one day, he rescues a girl from drowning, a girl in a wide-brimmed straw hat. After saving her life, the giant saves the lake from disaster. The girl and the villages see the giant’s true nature, and the error of their ways. We join them in a celebration of new-found friendship and community.
Gentle Giant incorporates all the senses: our audience will experience live music, sea shanties and songs, puppetry, and variety of textures and smells of life in Ballyloch, ending with a wild dance in wheelchairs.
Bamboozle’s team of performers are hugely experienced in adapting to, and interacting with, children who have a variety of complex needs, and the audience are invited to engage in their own time, and at their own pace.
Each performance caters for a maximum group of 6 children and 6 adult participants, plus additional family members, teachers and carers can also watch the performance.
