World Photography Day: Get Snap Happy in NE1

World Photography Day falls this Sunday (19 August), and we can't think of a better time to get out with your camera and capture the historic buildings and iconic landmarks of NE1.
Whether you're a selfie-lover, a foodie fanatic, or you prefer to take scenic shots, there's something for everyone to explore in Newcastle.
To celebrate, we've picked out 10 of the best picture-perfect places in the Toon to snap away this World Photography Day.
NEWCASTLE CASTLE
Newcastle Castle looks beautiful all year round, whatever the weather; which is why it’s a great place to start your photography trail of the Toon.
Located just a small walk from Grey Street, this medieval fortress is a family-friendly attraction, which teaches the history of how Newcastle got it’s name. A great starting point to get snap happy and to appreciate Newcastle behind a lense.
Visitors can go visit the castle each day, Monday through to Sunday and it's open from 10am - 5pm.
THE BOTANIST
Located within perfect view of Greys Monument and the glorious beauty of Grey Street, The Botanist is a great place to meet friends and take photographs.
This beautiul, botanical bolthole is in prime position for snapping through the high-panel windows, with views across the city, right down to Central Station. Snap happy sippers can also enjoy sitting on the sun terrance, taking the weight off their feet after work or a day of shopping.

BALTIC
BALTIC is the perfect place to get those 'arty' snaps, to explore the current exhibitions and to sample sumputous food on the top floor in SIX.
With panoramic views of the city, the River Tyne and Newcastle's iconic bridges, we can't think of a better spot to get those sceneic shots.
BALTIC is open from 10am - 8pm Monday to Sunday, throughout the summer.
SAGE GATESHEAD
Hop over the Tyne and take some time out to visit the beautiful shell-like building of Sage Gateshead.
Not only does the shape of the building add to the creative innovation of the city, but also adds more beauty, but it also sparks a surprise when visitors step inside. Prepare to be blown away by the big bright windows, stunning staircases and grand music halls.
There are ample opportunities to take pictures of the building inside and out, and you're sure to capture something special, whatever the weather outside.
CHINATOWN
Chinatown is the heartbeat of Chinese culture in NE1 and we can't think of a more vibrant place to get creative with the camera this World Photography Day.
Visitors can experience numerous activities in Chinatown, from Chinese New Year celebrations, to visiting a number of cool and colourful shops and restaurants in and around the area.
Make your way to Stowell Street where you can capture the beauty of the Chinese Arch, acting as the doorway to this dazzling area of town.
