Lane7 owners launch dedicated take away operation

One of the North East’s most successful new food and leisure operations is expanding its presence with a newly branded take away offering. Lane7, which opened on St James’ Boulevard in central Newcastle almost two years ago, has invested £50,000 in the development of Hatch 5, a new early morning and lunchtime take away station. The ‘hatch’ has been constructed on Churchill Street, on the side wall of Lane7, which acts as a popular through-route between Newcastle College and Central Station.  Hatch 5 is due to open week commencing September 7. Operations manager, Charlie Snow, said: “In all honesty, the opening of Hatch5 is long overdue. We’ve been fine-tuning the idea for some time. We think we’ve got an inventive and appealing menu for the people we’re hoping to attract. Post-summer is the perfect time for its launch. “There’s a lot happening around us in the lower St James’s part of town, with a new gym next door, new corporate spaces under construction and an array of new-build student accommodation. In the short time we’ve been here, it feels like things have burst into life around us. “While it’s exciting to feel at the epicenter of a growth area for central Newcastle, Hatch 5 really could work in any city centre environment.” Hatch 5 says it will offer traditional and healthy breakfast options, fresh fruit and cereal pots, protein shakes, hot drinks, lunchtime favourites and mid afternoon snacks. Hatch 5 will add some occasional outdoor seating, but the future shape of the menu and the offering will be dependent largely on customer feedback. Charlie added: “We’ve learned lots in the past two years, having introduced some new concepts to Newcastle through Lane7. Hatch5 will certainly have some new and surprise elements to it, but the offering, including menu and opening times, will largely be dictated to by our customers. We’re a social bunch, so look forward to implementing some of the feedback we hope to get from the punters. “It’s really exciting to be developing something new again in a part of the city centre that is most definitely on the up.”
