Fenwick Newcastle wishes you a mouthwateringly, multi-coloured Christmas

NORTH EAST HOLDS THE GOLDEN TICKET THIS CHRISTMAS AS FENWICK NEWCASTLE UNVEILS ITS FAMOUS FESTIVE MOVING WINDOW DISPLAY

#ChristmasAtFenwick

THOUSANDS of Geordies were treated to a scrumptious surprise this evening (Friday 01 November) as the highly-anticipated Fenwick Newcastle Christmas window was revealed by children from The Great North Children’s Hospital.

As snow fell from the rooftop, audiences were awestruck as 2019’s much awaited window was revealed to be a truly tremendous candy-coloured creation - inspired by Roald Dahl’s much-loved novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This year shoppers are invited to explore Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory for themselves, courtesy of Fenwick’s iconic Christmas window. With Friday marking the start of the Festive season, audiences can join Charlie Bucket as he discovers the fifth and final Golden Ticket and journey with him through the famous fable. From juicing rooms and chocolate waterfalls to great glass elevators and the awe-inspiring factory gates, the Fenwick Christmas window brings the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life like never before.

The partnership with The Roald Dahl Story Company, which has been many months in the making, ensures with no detail is overlooked resulting in a truly exceptional experience for all those who visit.

Carl Milton, Store Director at Fenwick Newcastle, said: “We’re thrilled to unveil this year’s animated display inspired by the magic of one of our favourite storytellers, Roald Dahl. This year’s Christmas experience promises to inspire, as well as create child-in-a-chocolate-factory excitement levels as we partner with one of the most loved books and characters of all time – the unique Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We hope that everyone enjoys the windows and wish them all a very happy Christmas.”

Paul Baptiste, Head of Creative for Fenwick added: “2019 has seen the creative team inspired by the amazing stories written by Roald Dahl and, in particular, the fantastic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s a story that’s as relevant today as the first day the book was released. This gave us the main inspiration for this year’s Christmas campaign. It’s a story of hope, dreams, wonder and lots and lots of fun. It’s going to be an amazing campaign and the windows in Newcastle are the start of a wonderful Christmas season at Fenwick - we hope everyone will enjoy them as much as we all did creating them.”

As part of the collaboration, Fenwick Newcastle has launched a number of special edition products including a Willy Wonka Anniversary Bauble, Willy Wonka Decorative Mug, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Book by Penguin, Exclusive Willy Wonka Bear by Steiff plus many more great gift ideas which will be available in store and online.

Sarah Read, Partnerships Manager at The Roald Dahl Story Company said: “The story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has captured the imagination of children and adults alike for many years, and we’re elated to see it bought to life so beautifully this Christmas in partnership with Fenwick. It has been a delight to activate this title across so many touchpoints, from the story being told in the stunning Newcastle windows, through to the premium product lines across gifting, art and festive décor through to bespoke publishing.”

Fenwick Newcastle will be releasing Santa’s Rooftop Cinema tickets for screenings of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) on Friday 01 November alongside an additional 20 screenings of festive favourites. Tickets are priced at £12.50 for the cinema. This event is not suitable for children under 2 years of age.
