A Space Odyssey: Tyneside Cinema

This Event has passed
Tyneside Cinema, Northern Film & Media (NFM) and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art present a special Q&A screening of Stanley Kubricks 2001: A Space Odyssey at Newcastle's Tyneside Cinema on Friday 5 December at 8pm. The screening takes place ahead of the nationwide re-release of the film, presented by the BFI as part of their Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder film season. The audience will have the chance to see Stanley Kubrick's science-fiction masterpiece on the big screen in a magnificent digital transfer from Warner Bros, and hear from an expert panel including leading 2001 expert Piers Bizony, artist Joy Cuff, who worked with Kubrick on models and sketches of the Moon for 2001, and Richard Daniels, Stanley Kubrick Archivist at University of the Arts London (UAL). The screening will coincide with the exhibition at BALTIC of a selection of important works relating to 2001, on loan from the Stanley Kubrick Archive at UAL and chosen by NFM and BALTIC. These items form part of They Used to Call it the Moon, a group exhibition exploring the enduring iconography of the moon in the artistic imagination.
