Heritage Open Days - Lead on the Tyne: The Past, Present & Future of Elswick Lead Works: Newcastle City Library

Join artist Julia Heslop for a fascinating talk about Elswick Lead Works at Newcastle City Library with Heritage Open Days 2026.

Tracing its legacy as one of the earliest significant manufacturing industries on Newcastle's west riverside, this talk will explore the past, present and future of Elswick Lead Works - covering what life was like to work there, the architectural traces of it that remain, the birds and plants who have since colonised it, and the plans to redevelop the site for housing.
