After a successful debut in 2025, Theare Royal’s very own fundraiser/revue show Something in the Water also returns this June. Following sell-out runs at several North East theatres in 2024, The Cramlington Train Wreckers is taking over the stage at Theatre Royal this July. Penned by local playwright Ed Waugh, the play tells the tale of the eight Northumberland miners who inadvertently derailed the Flying Scotsman during the 1926 General Strike and were imprisoned for 48 years. An inspiring tale of community, working class solidarity, laughter and heartbreak, it’s a befitting watch in 2026 – the centenary of the General Strike. (12th July 2026)
You’ve read the book, you’ve seen the film, now catch the stage adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs at Theatre Royal this summer.
