Summer is here and there’s a season of amazing music gigs to enjoy in the Toon…

As the weather gets warmer, Newcastle’s music scene is gearing up for some fantastic music events this summer.
No matter what musical genre boils your kettle – dance, trance, soul, pop or rock – there’s a gig or festival for you. Read on for our top picks of the season!
June
O2 City Hall Newcastle is ushering in the summer season with some brilliant musical acts in June, beginning with a two-night run from Take That frontman Gary Barlow on the North East leg of his ‘Songbook Tour’. Expect tracks from both his back catalogue as a solo artist and from his boy band days. (2nd – 3rd June 2025)
Next up, they’re welcoming Frankie Goes to Hollywood lead vocalist Holly Johnson to the O2 stage. He’s out on the road again to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band’s groundbreaking debut album Welcome to the Pleasuredome and bringing a set full of iconic 80s anthems like Relax, Two Tribes and The Power of Love. (15th June 2025)

If you’re looking to treat your dad to a Father’s Day night out in Newcastle, then look no further than Wylam Brewery. The Bootleg Eagles, the UK’s very best tribute to The Eagles, are stopping by for evening of the 70s rockers’ greatest hits – from Hotel California to Take It Easy – that dads will love. (15th June 2025)
Dig out those tracksuits, Burberry caps and glowsticks because Charva Choons Live! returns to NX this June. Join Hits Radio stars Karen & Steve for a night of all your happy hardcore favourites. It’s all in aid of North East charity Cash for kids too, so you’ll be helping a good a cause as you embrace your inner charva! (27th June 2025)
Rounding out June, there’s fun for the whole family at Tyne Theatre & Opera House when Andy and the Odd Socks take to the stage with their new show ‘Are you Ready to Rock?’. The stars of hit CBBC show ‘Andy and the Band’ are bringing their madcap mix of songs, slapstick comedy and general silliness and there’s the chance to pay a little extra for a meet-and-greet with the band themselves! (28th June 2025)
July
We’re kicking off July with a night of soulful sounds at Pilgrim with Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir. They’ll be joined by their brilliant live band to play a whole host of gospel, soul and R&B classics – summer vibes are guaranteed! (4th July 2025)
On the other end of the musical spectrum, dance and trance festival Lost Minds makes a welcome return to the city this summer. A much-loved part of Newcastle’s festival calendar, the Lost Minds line-up looks amazing this year with acts including trance legend Ben Nicky, the North East’s very own Schak and headliner Scooter. (12th July 2025)

The Globe is treating us music fans to a two-for-one of local talent this July. First up, there’s rising star Rivkala – a Manchester-born and Newcastle-based artist whose sound mixes neo-soul and feminist jazz – whose performance will be followed by a set from Geordie shoegaze rocker Hannah Robinson. (12th July 2025)
Part of the Newcastle Pride celebrations, the Pride Arena once again returns to Times Square this July with a weekend of amazing acts. On the Saturday, the star-studded line-up includes RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist Michael Marouli, fashionista-turned DJ Gok Wan, dance music legends Livin’ Joy and pop princess Pixie Lott and, on the Sunday, there’s plenty of top-class tribute acts to enjoy including Totally Taylor and That Freddie Queen. (19th – 20th July 2025)
Get set for some Fog on the Tyne this July when local folk-rock legends Lindisfarne play Wylam Brewery. Their hometown gigs are always a great night out and classic songs like Lady Eleanor, Meet Me on the Corner and All Fall Down are practically guaranteed. (20th July 2025)
August
Into August now, and we’re taking a trip back to the 70s with the Transatlantic Ensemble at Wylam Brewery, where they’ll be performing Fleetwood Mac’s iconic album Rumours in its entirety. Their gigs usually sell out quickly, so Don’t Stop and get those tickets booked now! (19th August 2025)
Over at Boiler Shop, three-time Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito is set to grace the stage this August. With a sound that mixes blues, R&B and roots music and a brand-new album – Son of a Broken Man – to promote, this promises to be an electrifying gig. (20th August 2025)

Festival season is in full swing come late August which sees the debut edition of Come Together at Newcastle’s Town Moor. Taking place over two days, the brand-new festival is headlined by former Take That bad boy Robbie Williams and American indie rockers Kings of Leon who’ll be supported by tonnes more amazing acts – Kaiser Chiefs, Andrew Cushin, Courteeners and The Snuts included. (20th & 22nd August 2025)
There’s more festival fun to be had this August when Noughty 90s returns to Leazes Park. It’s the ultimate throwback festival and with acts including Darren Styles, Atomic Kitten, Blazin’ Squad and N-Trance, it’s perfect for music fans of a certain – ahem – ‘vintage.’ (23rd August 2025)
The throwback theme continues over the August bank holiday weekend at Wylam Brewery where Spandau Ballet bassist and former Eastenders star Martin Kemp is doing another edition of his ever-popular Ultimate 80s Party. He’ll be spinning classic 80s hits all night long so expect tracks from the likes of Wham!, Duran Duran, Madonna and Culture Club… and probably a couple of Spandau Ballet songs too! (24th August 2025)
The summer vibes are in full swing here in Newcastle and with three whole months of amazing gigs and festivals happening in the city, music fans are in for a fantastic season!
