Everything You Need to Know About: Red Bull Tyne Ride

Heading to the Quayside for Red Bull Tyne Ride? Check out our handy guide first!

Last updated:

Red Bull Tyne Ride – the almighty motorcycle challenge that made its debut in Newcastle last summer – returns for its second edition this August.

It’s set to be even bigger and better than last year, bringing the world’s best motorcycle riders to the Toon to take on an epic course, and we’ve got the lowdown on all you need to make the most of this amazing event.

What is Red Bull Tyne Ride?

It’s a massive motorcycle event that organisers Red Bull describe as “the UK’s toughest” that brings together some of the world’s best riders in a series of head-to-head competitions.

Last year, the first Red Bull Tyne Ride brought thousands of people into the city to witness its riders taking on an epic course and this year’s second edition is expected to be just as amazing!

When is it happening?

Red Bull Tyne Ride is taking place on Saturday 30th August 2025. The event kicks off with practice and qualifiers from 9:30am to 12:45pm with the main race happening between 1:30pm and 4pm.

Where is it happening and how do I get there?

It’s taking place along Newcastle’s Quayside, around a 15 to 20 minute walk from three city centre Metro stations – Central Station, Monument and Manors.

There are several places to park your car nearby too if you’re driving into the city including the Quayside Multi-Storey Car Park, Dean Street Car Park and Newcastle Station Car Park.

Do I need to book tickets?

Nope – Red Bull Tyne Ride is a free, public event and no tickets are needed!

Spectators are, however, advised to arrive with plenty of time as access to viewing areas will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and capacity limits will be in place for safety reasons.

Which riders will be taking part?

Five-time FIM Super Enduro champion and hometown hero Billy Bolt – who came up with the idea of Tyne Ride along with Red Bull – will return as will Jonny Walker, the reigning Tyne Ride champion.

Other confirmed riders include Red Bull Romaniacs champion Mani Lettenbichler, Swedish rider Eddie Karlsson – who wowed crowds at last year’s event with his all-electric bike – and British riders Rosie Rowett and Chloe Richardson who’ll officially be the first female riders to take on the Red Bull Tyne Ride challenge.

Check out the Red Bull Tyne Ride website for the full rider line-up.

Where can I head nearby for food and drink?

There are plenty of places along and near Newcastle’s Quayside to grab some food and drink if you’re feeling thirsty or peckish.

For something quick or on-the-go I Scream For Pizza, the Quayside branch of Greggs and the Tesco Express on Broad Chare are perfect. For something a little more formal, you could treat yourself to a post-race sit-down meal at nearby restaurants including Gino D’Acampo, Pitcher & Piano, DOOD, St. Vincent and Lui’s or if it’s a post-race pint you’re after then The Broad Chare, Head of Steam and The Bridge Tavern are ideal.

Red Bull Tyne Ride takes place on Newcastle’s Quayside on Saturday 30th August. For more information visit www.redbull.com/gb-en/events/red-bull-tyne-ride.
