Let's Travel The World: International Street Food Festival

Last updated:

Autumn is the ideal time to get your foodie flair on here in Newcastle. What better way to escape the cooler weather than by sampling warming homemade recipes, a kick of spice and maybe a cheeky craft ale or two? The Sage’s upcoming Food Festival this weekend is the perfect way to banish the cold weather blues and get a taste for something new.

The cultural hub has joined forces with 44 Events, the team behind Newcastle's infamous food fight events Battle of the Burger and Thai Kwondo, to bring us ‘Let’s Travel The World.' A deliciously exciting take on culinary gems from across the world held from 22nd-24th September, the festival will see over fifty vendors showcase their finest cooking, suitable for Geordies of all ages.

And the fun doesn’t end with food: the stalls will be joined by a pop-up cinema, an English country garden, and even a pint-sized American diner. With entertainment including DJ’S, inspirational talks and chef masterclasses, as well as musical fiestas that will drift late into the night, the festival is set to be one of the biggest events of the Autumn.

In fact, it’s the largest food festival every held on Tyneside by 44 Events. All our faves will be attending, from One Loaf to The Green Guerilla and River Beat, so there really will be something for everyone.

Jason Hopper, director at 44 Events, says, ‘Every day will be different, with plenty of choices for anyone from the pickiest eater to the most discerning connoisseur, lots to see and do, and entertainment for all ages.

‘Sage Gateshead is the perfect venue for the festival, because we will have scope to transform it into a travel experience, right here on the Quayside.’ Sounds good to us!

Make sure to grab your tickets at www.sagegateshead.com, or on the door. At just £3 for the day, and £5 for the weekend, it’s a bargain. Remember, kids under 16 go free – your fabulous family weekend is served!
