One sure sign that the festive season is upon us is the return of the skating rink at Life, one of Newcastle’s most-loved landmarks when it comes to all things Christmas.

Situated in Times Square, right outside the Life Science Centre, the outdoor rink will open on Saturday November 12th and run right through until Sunday January 15th (closing only on the Christmas and New Year bank holidays).
The ice rink welcomes everyone, of all ages and abilities, and you can skate as group, a family or just solo. But booking is recommended – it gets very popular, especially during the school holidays. Sunday mornings and midweek afternoons are suggested as the quietest times if you want to skate on a less busy rink.
The rink is open from 9.30am, with the last skate starting at 8.30pm (although school bookings might mean the rink is unavailable to the public during school hours). Sessions start at £13.50 for an adult, £12 for a child aged 10-17, £10 for under 9s. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are £40 and there are deals available for large parties - you can even hire the entire rink if you want to go all out! Wheelchair users are welcome and carers can skate for free, and if your child is a little unsteady on their skates (and under 1.2metres tall) skating aids are available to hire for £5.

Don’t forget, there’s always lots going on at the Life Centre so why not make a day of it? There’s even a Festive Fiver deal running from November 12th till January 8th which includes everything in the centre (skating is extra).
