The Best BYOB Restaurants in Newcastle
We select some of the finest 'bring your own bottle' restaurants in town
There's dining out and then there's having the chance to dine out and bring your most favourite tipple along with you to sip as you savour the food.
We're blessed with a handful of brilliant restaurants in Newcastle offering BYOB deals that allow you to do exactly that. So, if you've got a bottle of wine you just can't bear to part ways with, why not book a table at one of the city's top BYOB restaurants?
Dobson & Parnell, Queen Street
One of the Quayside’s best-loved destination restaurants since it opened in 2016, Dobson & Parnell is all about fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers and the food is remarkable. Every Wednesday, guests who order three courses from their set or à la Carte menu can take advantage of their brilliant BYOB offer too. So you can select the wine, beer or other tipple to accompany your meal and they don’t even charge corkage - it’s an inexpensive way to enjoy a midweek meal. You just need to join the Whole Hog Food Club and quote ‘BYOB’ when booking.
Leila Lily’s, Grey Street
By now, you probably know that Leila Lily’s is one of the most lavish, romantic restaurants in the city, with a menu full of delicious fusion dishes served in truly striking surroundings. But did you know that they also offer a Bring Your Own Wine sitting three days a week? Dine from their al la carte menu from Monday to Wednesday between 6pm and 8pm, and you can enjoy a bottle of your favourite wine to enjoy. All you need to do is book a table in advance.
Thai House Café, Clayton Street
Thai House Café is a genuine hidden gem - a must-visit for authentic, tasty, cheap Thai food served in a bustling café environment. And because they don’t serve their own alcohol, you’re welcome to take your own. So if you fancy a crisp white with your tom yum soup or a good ale with your massaman curry, you can at Thai House Café.
21, Pandon
21 is one of Terry Laybourne’s flagship ventures, a Michelin-starred, bistro-style restaurant just off the Quayside. It has a reputation for the very best cuisine – classic, simple, perfect – and they also have a BYOB option too. If you reserve a table in the Club Room on the first Wednesday of every month, you can take along a bottle or two of your choice and not even pay a corkage fee. Just quote BYO if you’re booking by phone.
Gaucho, Market Street
A fairly recent addition to the Newcastle foodie scene, Gaucho is famous for its steak – in a range of cuts and styles based on Argentinian cuisine (although the menu has plenty of non-steak options, including veggie and pescatarian choices). And they also host BYOB Mondays, a chance to feast on fantastic food from the a la carte menu while drinking a bottle of wine or champagne of your choice (with no corkage charge). The offer runs from midday to close on Monday, with one bottle per pair of diners permitted.
The Bake, Eldon Square
The Bake in Eldon Square is part of a small family chain of Lebanese restaurants in Newcastle, serving up all the very best shawarmas, wraps, mezzes and more (and with a great line in Mediterranean breakfasts too). And now they’re offering a Bring Your Own Bottle deal – we recommend checking for T&Cs when you book but your favourite wine paired with a Lebanese feast sounds like a great idea.
Whether a restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol or wants to offer customers the chance to save some money, a BYOB offer is a brilliant thing and Newcastle has plenty of them. So, grab your favourite bottle and get those tables booked!
