From festivals celebrating genres like jazz and dance, to gigs from big-name acts like Lily Allen and Elvis Costello, music fans certainly won’t be disappointed with the packed musical season the Toon has in store.
June
We’re kicking off the summer music season with a night at Newcastle’s legendary nightclub World HQ to catch Fliptrix. The UK hip-hop pioneer is stopping by with DJ Jazz T to celebrate the release of his eleventh LP Elevation – and if you’ve ever been to a Fliptrix show before, you know that this one if going to be a banger. (3rd June 2026)
Expect a High Voltage show when American rockers Electric Six take over the stage at Digital this June. The Detroit sextet are bringing their typically over-the-top sound to the Toon, with classics from throughout their long career, plus tracks from latest album Turquoise. (13th June 2026)
Lily Allen’s tell-album break-up West End Girl made a huge splash when it was released in 2025 and this summer, you can catch her perform it in full at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena. Tickets are already selling fast for what promises to be a raw and wryly funny gig from the London songstress. (16th June 2026)
Get your skank on at the Boiler Shop this summer with a set from ska outfit PorkPie. Mixing classic 2-tone sounds with their own brand of high energy – and with support from Brighton ska/dub/reggae band Dakka Skanks too – this is one ska fans won’t want to miss. (19th June 2026)
The annual Newcastle Jazz Festival makes a welcome return this June, once again taking over Live Theatre for two whole days with an amazing line-up of artists. From the soulful, R&B-infused sounds of Alexia Gardner to award-winning drummer Clark Tracey, there’s something for every jazz fan to enjoy. (26th – 27th June 2026)
July
As we head into July, we’re booking to see Action Bronson at O2 City Hall Newcastle. The chef-turned-rapper (and self-proclaimed “Mr. Wonderful”!) promises another fun night of hip-hop as he takes to the road in support of his new album Planet Frog. (4th July 2026)
Also taking to the O2 City Hall stage this July is the legendary Elvis Costello. He’ll be joined by his backing band The Imposters (with guitarist Charlie Sexton) to perform classics from his early career – so expect tracks from records between 1977’s My Aim is True to 1986’s Blood & Chocolate, with a few surprises thrown in too! (6th July 2026)
Of course, July is when Newcastle’s music festival season really gets started and we’ve got not one, not two but three amazing fests to add to your calendar. First up it’s In the Park Festival, taking over Exhibition Park for three days this July with sets headlined by Lewis Capaldi, Paul Weller and Wolf Alice – plus some brilliant supporting acts too. (8th July, 10th July & 12th July 2026)
Sandwiched in between those In the Park dates is Lost Minds, Newcastle’s legendary dance music festival that’s back this summer for its epic fifth edition. With EDM royalty Oliver Heldens headlining and other acts including DJ Holy Priest, Dash Berlin and Darren Styles on the line-up, this promises to be an amazing fifth anniversary for the festival. (11th July 2026)
And, last but by no means least, we’re seeing July out at Newcastle Pride Arena. Part of the city’s annual Pride celebrations, the Arena is taking over Times Square with two whole days of music from the likes of former Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle, South London singer-songwriter Katy B and 90s dance outfit Urban Cookie Collective – plus a whole host of tribute acts to musicians including Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan and Harry Styles. (25th & 26th July 2026)
August
And finally, we’re into August where we’ll be heading Under the Boardwalk with The Drifters at Tyne Theatre & Opera House. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are once again back on tour in the UK bringing fans all their classic hits – from Saturday Night at the Movies to Come on Over to My Place – plus much, much more. (1st August)
Oasis fans Definitely Maybe won’t want to miss out on The Music of Oasis by Candlelight at Newcastle Cathedral this August. Led by an epic cast of talented vocalists and an amazing live band, you’ll hear songs like Champagne Supernova and She’s Electric like never before – and all in the stunning candlelit surrounds of the Cathedral. (7th August)
Don’t think it’s time to rest up yet, because the very next day American singer-songwriter Faye Webster is coming to the Toon with a gig at NX as part of her latest European tour. If you haven’t already heard her indie-pop/alt-country sound, then now is the time to become a fan. (25th August 2026)
It’s aways sad to say goodbye to summer, but Newcastle is ending the season on a high with Noughty 90s Festival at Leazes Park. The day-long nostalgia fest aims to recapture the spirit of the nineties and noughties with three stages of acts including East 17, Kelly Llorena and Gareth Gates that are bound to transport you back to your misspent youth. (29th August 2026)
Three whole months of amazing gigs and festivals in Newcastle? Just another regular summer in the Toon then – get those tickets booked and enjoy!
