The Spy Who Came in From the Cold @ Theatre Royal
John le Carré’s thrilling espionage novel comes to life this summer on the Theatre Royal stage, as Ralf Little (The Royale Family, Death in Paradise) stars in The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Following the misadventures of British intelligence officer Alec Lemas on his final mission before throwing in the towel, and with danger and deception lurking around every corner, it’s set to have audiences on the edge of their seat. If you’ve raved recently about season two of The Night Manager as much as we have, then this one’s for you.

Beyond Van Gogh @ Utilita Arena
Also keeping culture vultures happy this July is Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at the Utilita Arena. This talented bunch have mastered cutting-edge technology, using it to make more than 300 of Van Gogh’s iconic work come alive. That means you’ll be able to lose yourself in The Starry Night, take a seat at Café Terrace at Night, and bloom alongside Sunflowers as they paint the arena in a whole new light. Plus, there’s SEND-friendly sessions for those that need them, as well as adult-only evening viewings and weekend immersive yoga experiences, for anyone that fancies them.

Nikit Kuzmin: Supernova @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House
Strictly Come Dancing finalist and fan favourite Nikita Kuzmin brings his brand-new show Supernova to Tyne Theatre & Opera House this July! Created in collaboration with world-renowned choreographer and BAFTA award recipient Jason Gilkinson, and starring special guest and World Ten Dance Champion Nadiya Bychkova, it promises to be an awesome evening.

The Maccabees @ O2 City Hall
Ahead of their wider UK tour later this year, The Maccabees are set to play the O2 City Hall Stage in July. With an impressive indie back catalogue behind them, including tracks like Toothpaste Kisses and Pelican, this intimate live show is one that fans both new and old won’t want to miss. What’s more, they’ll be joined by special guests Chartreuse – a rising indie rock group that released their second album Bless You & Be Well just last year, so you'll be able to say 'I knew them before you did' when they inevitably hit the big time.

In the Park & Lost Minds Festival @ Exhibition Park
Lost Minds, Newcastle’s annual dance music festival returns this summer on Saturday 11th July, with a brand-new location at Exhibition Park and a line-up that includes techno trailblazer Holy Priest, Dutch DJ Oliver Heldens, DJ/remixer/record producer Ferry Corsten – plus plenty of food stalls and bars to keep you refreshed throughout! It’s even sandwiched in-between a series of tremendous gigs from In the Park Presents Festival. With sets from Lewis Capaldi, Paul Weller and Wolf Alice, there’s plenty to keep music lovers of all shapes and sizes happy.

Newcastle Pride @ City Centre
A jam-packed weekend of celebration, music and pride, Newcastle Pride is bigger and better than ever this July! Times Square boasts a star-studded lineup, with the likes of Nadine, Katy B and Bimini taking to the stage across – while Saturday’s free festival takes over the city with the Pride March, family and youth zone, market village and platform stage.

Castillo Nuevo Orquesta – Live Salsa! @ Pilgrim

3rd Bite for Cancer Research UK @ Wylam Brewery
After raising over £100,000 last year, Second Bite Festival returns to Wylam Brewery this July in aid of Cancer Research. This time around, twenty Michelin rated chefs from around the UK will be bringing their a-game (and some extremely tasty street food!) to the Toon, helping to raise money for the life-saving work that the charity does. Tokens are a tenner each, so grab yours to sample food from the likes of James Knappett, Stuart Ralston and Jack Bond.
