We’re super excited to see Disney On Ice back in town this week with a fun-filled tour of the imagination. Passport to Adventure invites families on a journey to the most memorable destinations with their favourite Disney characters. You’ll be swept away by classic tales that have captivated the world; exploring African Pride Lands with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, voyaging deep under the sea to Ariel’s mystical underwater kingdom and touring London with Peter Pan and Wendy, before flying to Neverland to meet up with Tinker Bell. It’s one for the whole family - it’s magic - don’t miss out!
NE1 catch up with Claire Ballard, the Senior Regional Marketing Manager at Feld Entertainment, producers of Disney On Ice - arriving at Metro Radio Arena this week until Sunday 8 October with Disney On Ice presents Passport to Adventure.
First time on the Toon?
Oh no, I've been a visitor to the 'Toon' on more than five occasions since working with Disney On Ice and it's always such a friendly city!
Have you brought your coat?
I spend half my life in ice rinks, so I can handle a bit of chill!
Best Tyneside moment?
Seeing hundreds of cute kids dressed as their favourite Disney characters at the Metro Radio Arena.
Favourite Geordie?
It’s currently a tie between Michelle Heaton, who was our Disney On Ice ambassador last year; and Callum Leach, who was our Geordie Woody from Toy Story in the 2015 Disney On Ice show in Newcastle. That said, you’ll have to keep your eyes out for another local skater, Becci Wake, in this year’s ice show!
NE1 plans?
My visits are always work related but the crew always squeeze in some time to celebrate in the party city!
What would you be doing if you weren’t here now?
Working in Amsterdam (where I live), touring with the show elsewhere in the UK, or visiting family and friends in the States.
A fun fact?
About me... I’m not SO American! My parents are British (from Sheffield and Worcester) and I was born in France - raised mostly in the States though, hence the mid-Western Yank accent! But a fun fact about this year’s ice show... there are 160 costumes in the show! Bet you can’t count them all?!
If you're popping along to see the show this year, please do tag us in your photographs @newcastlene1. Enjoy the adventure with all your favourite Disney characters!
