WHAT:
Another vibrant Chinese New Year celebration comes to town as we celebrate the Year of the Pig!

WHERE:
Stowell Street and surrounding areas

WHEN:
Sunday 10 February 2019

We’re gathering for Chinese New Year festivities on Sunday 10 February in the city centre. Here’s everything you need to know about the Year of the Pig in Newcastle...

The people of NE1 will be pleased to hear that we’re kicking off the celebrations with the much-loved Chinese New Year Parade!

The dazzling display will wind its way through the hustle and bustle of the city, from Old Eldon Square, under the Chinese Arch, along Stowell Street and finishing up on Bath Lane, where the celebrations will continue.

Stowell Street will once again be at the heart of this cultural celebration in NE1, the perfect spot for spectators to gather and soak up the atmosphere as the day goes on.

Expect dragon dancing, flag waving, impressive themed floats, magnificent musicians and a sparkling parade as the streets come alive to celebrate the Year of the Pig.

The Chinese community is a bustling area of town - and the perfect time to experience its authenticity is during Chinese New Year! We’re celebrating this special spot in our city by guiding you through some of the best bits along the parade route!
