Tyne Youth Company launches search for three new Youth Theatre Facilitators
Tyne Theatre & Opera House is seeking talented drama, voice and dance practitioners to join the artistic team of its youth theatre programme for the 2026–27 season.
Tyne Youth Company (TYC), based at Newcastle’s historic Tyne Theatre & Opera House, has launched a recruitment drive for three Youth Theatre Facilitators specialising in drama, voice and dance.
The successful practitioners will join the TYC artistic team from September 2026 to July 2027, delivering high-quality, engaging and inclusive sessions for young performers aged 7–17.
Tyne Youth Company aims to inspire and equip its members with a broad understanding of the theatre world, helping young people to discover their individual passions, develop their skills and grow in confidence. The company is committed to making the performing arts accessible and creating opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to participate.
The three facilitators will work collaboratively to create a varied teaching programme across the academic year, with drama, singing and dance taught on rotation. They will also support TYC members as they work towards productions and performance opportunities, including taking part in Annie in February 2027 in collaboration with the Theatre’s in-house amateur dramatic company, Tyne Theatre Productions.
The roles will primarily take place on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12.30pm at Tyne Theatre & Opera House in Newcastle city centre. Each role is paid at £100 per week, including the planning and delivery of weekly sessions and attendance at termly planning and evaluation meetings. Additional payments will be made for performance days.
Applicants should have at least two years of professional, specialised experience in drama, voice or dance within a youth theatre or young people’s community setting. They should also have experience of delivering creative and inclusive sessions, working with young people towards a production, and building supportive relationships that encourage confidence and self-expression.
A current Enhanced DBS is required. Applications close at midnight on Sunday 9 August 2026. Applicants should submit a CV and accompanying letter explaining how their professional and life experience aligns with the role’s requirements and responsibilities. Applications should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line “TYC ARTISTIC TEAM”. Full details are available at: https://bit.ly/TYC-Facilitators
