The CastleGate offers a taste of history at The North East Wedding Show

A historic venue at the heart of Newcastle will be showing couples how to host an electric wedding on a budget at The North East Wedding Show this weekend. The Grade II listed CastleGate on Melbourne Street will be showcasing its new money-saving package at the region’s biggest wedding show on September 13 - 14 at the Metro Radio Arena. The CastleGate, which dates back to 1903, has a unique place in Newcastle’s history, having generated electricity for the city’s tram network. In recent years the building has become a popular and successful conference venue, but it has now opened its doors to the wedding market and is launching a Blank Canvas wedding package of £850 - offering couples the flexibility to make the day their own, with no hidden costs or restrictions on catering and suppliers. Weddings are hosted in the venue’s magnificent Turbine Hall, which accommodates up to 250 for a seated wedding breakfast, and 500 for an evening reception, making it one of the largest capacity wedding venues in the North. The UK’s No.1 Bridal Coach Michele Paradise will take centre stage at The Experts Theatre with her popular workshops and sessions. Michele will share invaluable advice on how to walk in fabulous shoes and achieve the perfect pose for photographs as well as choosing the best dress for each body shape, helping brides to look and feel good inside and out on their big day.
