A pioneering North East company is leading the way in providing a variety of industries with a solution to save money and use staff time more efficiently – thanks to its fleet of robots.

Spark Robotics, based at The Catalyst, Newcastle is becoming the UK’s go-to company to supply robots in industries where a solution is needed for repetitive tasks, staffing pressures and labour pressures.

Delivering room service to hotel guests and carrying out cleaning activities in locations ranging from care homes to shopping centres are just some of the diverse tasks that the robots are being purchased to carry out.

They are also being used by amusement arcades, garden centres, casinos and in warehousing and logistics locations, helping organisations which either don’t have the staff to carry out these vital tasks or need to free up employees to do other tasks.

SPARK Robotics grew out of parent company, New APEX Ltd, which sold – and continues to sell – electronic point of sale equipment to hospitality and leisure.

Founder Eric Guo recognised the gaps that a variety of industries needed to fill – and realised that bots programmed to carry out those specific tasks could help ease the pressure.

The company is growing at a fast rate, so much so it will be moving to new premises this autumn.
