Spaghetti Man Sculpture in need of new home

Newcastle’s Life Science Centre closed to the public earlier this week (4 January) in order to complete some major renovation work. There will be plenty to celebrate when the Centre re-opens on Saturday 23 January 2016, with a new café area and the launch of a new exhibition. The café renovations however have left one important member of the Life team in need of a new home. Life’s beloved ‘Spaghetti Man’ sculpture - which previously overlooked happy diners in the Mad Pursuits café – is surplus to requirements in the new café, and  will have to be rehomed. The sculpture, also known as ‘Mr Mad’, is over 6 feet tall and made entirely of stainless steel kitchenware. If anyone is able to offer Spaghetti Man a new home, then they are encouraged to head to EBay, where he is for up for sale. Proceeds will fund future events and activities at Life, which is a self-sustaining charity. Renovations are also taking place to remodel a large area of the Science Centre in preparation for a new permanent exhibition all about the brain, which is scheduled to open on 25 March this year. “It is a very exciting time at Life as we prepare for the launch of our new exhibitions and opening of our new café area,” said Ian Simmons, Science Communication Director at Life, “We always like to have something new for our visitors, and with this refurbishment work we are sure that Life will be able to offer an even better visitor experience for 2016.” Not forgetting about the plight of ‘Spaghetti Man’, he added, “If one of our visitors would like to give him a home, they are more than welcome to bid online!” See here for more information http://ebay.eu/1O8nucF .
