Northumbria expands into London

Northumbria University, Newcastle, has today announced the launch of its new London campus as it expands its academic presence in the UK’s capital and internationally. This move means Northumbria will offer programmes in two of the UK’s top cities for students, London and Newcastle. From September, the London campus will offer professional, industry-based programmes at postgraduate and undergraduate level. Northumbria is one of the top ranked universities for employability and for enterprise: 8th among English universities for the percentage of graduates placed in professional employment, and in the top 4 in the UK for graduate start-ups. The new campus location in the heart of London’s financial district will provide increased links and new opportunities in the national and international business sector. There will be extensive opportunities for student placements. The campus will also build Northumbria’s connectivity with London – arguably the world’s knowledge capital – improving exposure and access to national and international research. This development supports the University’s aim to grow significantly its international community in the UK. Northumbria will recruit students nationally as well as internationally. Professor Andrew Wathey, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Northumbria University, said: “Our new campus means we can offer our students the opportunity to study in two of the UK’s top cities for students, Newcastle and London.  Its location in the centre of a global city will appeal to our growing international community and to home-based students, whose educational experience will be bolstered by the rich and diverse industry links that the capital offers.”
