North East wedding show attracts record visitors

A record-breaking number of brides-to-be descended on the North East’s biggest wedding show at the weekend and the organisers are so pleased they have booked another show this autumn. The North East Wedding Show, held at Metro Radio Arena from January 25-26, attracted more than 3200 visitors, representing a 27% increase from the previous year proving that getting married is still big business in the North East. The show featured over 100 exhibitors covering every aspect of a wedding from venues, cakes, dresses, flowers, photographers and entertainment to give couples all the information they need for their wedding. There were also stunning fashion shows from local designers including Mao Courture Bridal and Katherine Russell, an Expert’s Theatre headed by the UK’s top bridal coach, Michele Paradise who gave advice on how to look and feel amazing on the big day, and local celebrities popped in to share their wedding plans including BBC Look North’s Hannah Bayman and Metro Radio’s Stuart Elmore. Visitors also received exclusive offers and competitions from exhibitors including the chance to win a dream wedding at Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa worth £4500. Mark Booth, general manager Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa said “The show was really well attended and there was a great atmosphere all weekend.  We have picked up many invaluable leads and this is by far one of the best wedding events in the region to reach brides and grooms-to-be.” Bev Howard, event manager at the Ocean Media Group, added: “We are delighted that the North East Wedding Show attracted a record turnout making it the best event in the show’s 14-year history.  We have received great feedback from both exhibitors and visitors proving that the wedding industry is still booming in the North East and getting married is as popular as ever. Local exhibitors included Snaparazzi, Alnwick Garden, Kelly Ann's Cakes, Exclusive Yacht Weddings, Alan Gibson Photography, the Entertainment Directors, snaparazzi, Rings by Designs, One Digital Image, WF Executive, Rings by Designs, atelier de fleurs, Slaley Hall.  Entertainment was provided by Groovline. The Bishop of Newcastle also attended the show to talk to brides-to-be on the Church of England stand. The North East Wedding Show will be staged in the Autumn this year on September 13-14 as well as in January 24-25 2015.  For more information visit www.theukweddingshows.co.uk
