Local Talent to Take Centre Stage at Mercury Prize Live Lounge

Six local musicians to perform at the Mercury Prize Fringe event at Fenwick Newcastle.

Six local artists will be taking centre stage at Fenwick Newcastle this October, with a Mercury Prize Fringe event set to take place in-store on Thursday 22nd October.

Taking place ahead of the big awards night at the Utilita Arena, Fenwick Newcastle is hosting the official fan zone, giving customers and devoted music fans a chance to make the most of the night ahead and enjoy live lounge style sessions from standout North East musicians, with each act taking to the stage for a live set following a short interview with presenter Alice Patterson.

From emerging talent to an acclaimed North East alt-pop duo, guests will have the opportunity to discover new sounds, meet the artists and soak up the atmosphere, whilst enjoying everything Fenwick has to offer. Performers include Manny 234, Jenna Cole, So Anne-So, Vin Kay, Pearly Gates and Talk Like Tigers.

The event is free to attend and will be held in the brand new Full Circle Brewery pub located on the first floor of the Northumberland Street store next to Colmans restaurant. The event will start at 12pm and will run until 6pm before the awards night, with two artists taking to the stage with live sets and Mercury Prize-inspired sounds every two hours.

Guests simply need to book a table via Fenwick online to secure their spot on the day, which will offer the chance to settle in for the afternoon to enjoy Full Circle’s range of beers on tap plus sampling delicious light bites from Colmans, all while discovering new artists and listening to the sounds of the city.

Leo Fenwick, Strategic Partnerships Director at Fenwick, said: “The return of the Mercury Prize is a brilliant moment for Newcastle and another opportunity to shine a spotlight on the creativity that exists across the North East. At Fenwick, we’re proud to use our platform to champion emerging local artists, giving them the opportunity to share their music with new audiences. Supporting the community around us is incredibly important, and we’re delighted to play our part in bringing the excitement of the Mercury Prize into the heart of the city.”
