Newcastle motoring website appoints former Google employee

A fast-growing car servicing and repairs website is gearing up to welcome a former member of the Google Automotive team to the company. WhoCanFixMyCar.com, which is based in Newcastle and backed by the Trinity Mirror Group, has hired Alex Rose as marketing director. Alex, from London, takes up the newly created role in March 2014. As automotive industry manager for Google, Alex has spent the past four years helping some of the UK’s biggest automotive brands focus their online marketing efforts. Before that, Alex performed a number of online marketing roles at BMW (UK) Ltd from 2005-2010. Alex will be responsible for all marketing activities at WhoCanFixMyCar and will be concentrating, initially, on continuing to increase traffic and optimizing user journeys through the site. Alistair Preston, co-founder of WhoCanFixMyCar, said: “When scaling a young business like ours, attracting the right mix of quality people is critical. Alex is a superb addition and his background in online automotive marketing is hard to beat. The fact he joins us from a firm as revered as Google only further endorses our vision and plans for the future. We are delighted to welcome him to WhoCanFixMyCar.” Alex said: “The first time I saw WhoCanFixMyCar I loved the idea and the brand. After meeting the team I quickly decided that it was a start-up that had huge potential in a sector that, so far, has yet to provide the choice, convenience and peer reviews that consumers have now come to expect when transacting online.”
