Legendary Tyneside Clubbing Brand Will Now Start Every Weekend with a Bang
One of the most enduring and celebrated club brands is marking its 25th year by a change of night – ensuring every weekend will now start with a bang.
LoveDough is celebrating its silver anniversary, an achievement reached by only a handful of music events.
And to mark the occasion, its Newcastle spiritual home, Tup Tup Palace is moving its weekly outing from Tuesdays to Fridays from tomorrow (Friday 11 September).
LoveDough originally launched in Leeds in 2001 but moved to Newcastle the following year – and has remained in the city ever since.
It fast became synonymous with being THE ultimate club night, playing host to Hip Hop and RnB royalty such A$AP Rocky, Skepta, Charli XCX, Big Narstie and Little Simz, along with showcasing virtually every legendary DJ name.
Among those who cut their teeth with the brand was singer Paloma Faith, who started her entertainment career as a dancer in 2001.
Over the years it has moved to various locations across Newcastle, starting at Ikon where it regularly drew crowds of more than 2500 people to Digital before setting at Tup Tup Palace in 2007 – where it has remained ever since.
For the past decade it has been the main attraction every Tuesday night but the decision has been made to move it to Fridays where guests can enjoy a host of superstar DJs and top names acts including Kenny Allstar, Vibe Room, Smoove and Central Cee’s DJ Andrew Purnell.
Kicking off the first event will be celebrated DJ Martin 2 Smoove, a LoveDough regular with an international reputation having done everything from warming up for Drake to DJ at a range of high profile events around the world, including warming up for Drake and being the official DJ for the Gumball Rally.
“LoveDough really is legend and has survived and thrived where so many other brands have fallen along the way,” said Matt “LoveDough” Smyth from Tup Tup Palace.
“We’ve made the decision to move it to Friday nights which has already created a massive buzz and we know that people can’t wait to come along and enjoy being part of its amazing legacy.”

While Newcastle may be LoveDough’s resident home, the event has an international following and has had residencies in more than 40 cities around the world, in places including Ibiza, Mallorca, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
