New Restaurant Set to Ruffle Feathers in Newcastle this Spring

Social Bird, a new contemporary restaurant, is set to soar into Newcastle's hospitality scene with a feathered twist this spring. Get ready to flock together for a cluckin' good time.
Set to bring a dynamic flair to Newcastle's city centre, Social Bird is spreading its wings on Newcastle’s Fenkle Street, just off Westgate Road, with plans to open mid-spring.

Not your typical bird, Social Bird is more than just a place to eat; it's a haven for those seeking a unique and lively atmosphere, bringing you food and drinks you’ll rave about in a laid-back setting.

Whether you're looking for a cosy coffee, quick lunch, sit-down dinner or Friday night cocktail, the new restaurant has something for everyone.

Geordies and those visiting the city can prepare to indulge in a chicken-inspired menu, specialising in Chicken Schnitzels and burgers sourced locally from suppliers Soanes Poultry, known for their commitment to sustainability and high animal welfare standards. Social Bird restaurant will offer a chic, smart, and elegant ambience, with a rebellious spirit and balanced mix of laid-back vibes and exuberant energy. The versatile space is also ideal for co-working sessions and laid-back catchups, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for any occasion.

Designed by Ica, an architecture and interior design studio based in Glasgow, Social Bird's interiors have drawn inspiration from the city's rich heritage, with elements such as the bar’s arched detailing inspired by the iconic Tyne Bridge adding a local touch to the rebellious and modern spirit of the restaurant.

Social Bird's interiors are infused with bold, warm, earthy tones, green hues, and timber accents, striking a perfect balance between elegance and contemporary style. The stone top bar, complemented by integrated lighting with suspended feature pendants, adds a touch of sophistication, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere with a warm glow. The varied seating options, from high tables to lounge chairs, ensure a comfortable and adaptable setting, warmly welcoming guests to immerse themselves in Newcastle's vibrant energy with every visit.

Emma Thompson General Manager, shared her excitement, "We are thrilled to introduce Social Bird to Newcastle, bringing a place where every detail has been crafted to make you feel at home, and every bite a culinary delight. Social Bird is set to become a vibrant part of our local community, offering a unique and inviting space. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to experience the great hospitality and unique charm of Social Bird.”

As the local community is a huge part of what Social Bird stands for and cherishes, they are also collaborating with other local businesses, such as Tynemouth Coffee, Newcastle Gin, Pure Knead and Hadrian's Border Brewery, to curate a genuine and local menu. Social Bird will be serving up a diverse breakfast, lunch, evening and everything-in-between menu 7 days a week, perfect for both leisurely sit-down meals or quick bites on the go.

Beyond the great cocktails and chicken, the new restaurant is also committed to creating an all-encompassing experience, including live music and open mic nights, with the aim to become a hub for the local community to come together and enjoy a sustainable, ethical food and relaxed environment.
