NE1’S MONUMENT MOVIES ARE BACK FOR THE SUMMER

The deckchairs are out and so is the sun in time for the relaunch of the ever popular summertime favourite, NE1’s Monument Movies in Newcastle city centre.   NE1’s free open air movies return to Grey’s Street from tomorrow – Tuesday 22 July 2014 for the six week school summer holidays.  The big screen and deckchairs will be set up and ready for the screenings which will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays with screenings at 12 noon and 5pm and on Sundays with films starting at 11am and 3pm. Tomorrow’s forecast is for sun and highs of 22 degrees which will contrast with the first film to be screened, Disney’s latest movie classic, Frozen.  The songs, ‘Do you want to build a snowman?’, and ‘Let it Go’ will echo down Grey Street when the first film screenings of the summer season gets underway at 12 noon. Other movie classics scheduled for summer showings include Grease 24/07/14; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 29/07/14 and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 05/08/14 Newcastle city centre is likely to be inundated with young teenage girls on 10 August when the One Direction movie, This is Us takes to the NE1 big screen. Other movie classics and family favourites make up a packed programme of films that aim to keep people entertained for free during the school summer holidays.  For all the details of the movie schedule visit www.getintonewcastle.co.uk/monumentmovies Commenting on NE1’s Monument Movies, Stephen Patterson,  NE1’s Director of Communications said: “NE1’s Monument Movies are a popular summertime feature of Newcastle City Centre’s events calendar. Each year, viewing figures continue to rise and it is now very much an event people look forward to and even get dressed up for. Come rain or shine people enjoy sitting in the open air in a NE1 deckchair watching a movie – it’s a great spectacle in itself.”
