The Molotovs Bring the Fire to Think Tank – One of the UK’s Hottest Young Bands Hit Newcastle This Summer

Breakout indie-mod trio The Molotovs are set to blow the roof off Think Tank Newcastle on 16 June with a live show that promises ferocity, fire, and full-throttle energy from start to finish. This is no ordinary young band – this is a group handpicked by The Libertines, Sex Pistols, Adam Ant, and Blondie to share their stages. Even Green Day gave them a nod from across the Atlantic. Not bad for a band who are still in their teens.

Fronted by Mathew Cartlidge, with sister Issey Cartlidge on bass and Conor Monaghan on drums, The Molotovs are carving their name into the modern music landscape with an old-school attitude and a no-holds-barred live presence. Their story – from busking on the streets of London to playing with punk royalty – is the stuff of rock mythology in the making.

Their upcoming single ‘Today’s Gonna Be Our Day’ – dropping 20 June – is already racking up attention. Gritty, anthemic and relentlessly upbeat, it’s a rallying cry for a new generation. Preorders and presaves are live now across all major streaming platforms.

Mathew says the band are buzzing to finally hit the North East: “Playing the North East has always been a dream – there’s something legendary about the Geordie crowds. They don’t just watch the gig, they live it. We’re ready to give it everything at Think Tank. Expect sweat, noise and proper chaos.”

He adds: “We’ve played all over the country this year, but Newcastle’s been circled on our calendar for months. It’s a city that lives and breathes music, and we can’t wait to be part of that for one night. We’re bringing our A-game.”

As featured in Rolling Stone UK, The Molotovs are fast becoming the voice of a generation too young to remember Britpop but fully in tune with its urgency and rebellion. Their sound – punchy, melodic, political – is backed up by a stage presence that leaves nothing in the dressing room.

If you like your live music loud, raw, and unforgettable, get yourself down to Think Tank Newcastle. This is one show you’ll be telling people about for years.
