KOZLE to Launch in Newcastle, Bringing Fire-Led Turkish Grill and Bold Fusion Dishes to the City

A new Turkish grill concept is set to arrive in Newcastle with the launch of KÖZLE, a restaurant built around the power of fire, flavour, and innovation.

Meaning “cooked over embers,” KÖZLE is rooted in the traditional art of charcoal grilling, using coal to unlock deeper, smokier flavours across its menu. The restaurant will combine authentic Turkish grill techniques with a modern twist, introducing a selection of unique fusion dishes designed to push boundaries while staying true to fire-led cooking.

Leading the kitchen is a head chef from Turkey with decades of experience, bringing deep expertise in traditional grilling methods, seasoning, and open-fire cooking. This foundation of authenticity is paired with a forward-thinking approach to flavour, resulting in a menu that blends classic Turkish influences with globally inspired creations.

From perfectly charred meats to inventive, flavour-packed dishes, KÖZLE aims to deliver a dining experience that stands out in both taste and creativity.

Founder Arfeen Safdar commented: “KÖZLE is all about flavour at its deepest level. Cooking over coal completely transforms the way food tastes, it gives you a richness and smokiness you just cannot achieve any other way. But we also wanted to take it further by introducing fusion dishes that people haven’t experienced before, combining different flavour profiles while still keeping that fire-led identity at the core.”

KÖZLE will open at the former Ottoman restaurant site on Clayton Street West, next to Central Station in Newcastle. The space is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, reimagined to reflect a modern, casual dining environment.

With its combination of authentic technique, experienced leadership, and bold, fusion-driven creativity, KÖZLE is set to bring a new energy to Newcastle’s food scene.
