General Travel Update 10am Thursday 5 December
Today’s storm is expected to remain at its peak from 10am until mid-afternoon and is affecting some public transport.
Buses
Almost all bus routes in Tyne and Wear are operating but with delays as drivers take extra care in today’s storm winds, and because of traffic.
Buses between Newcastle and Metrocentre are diverted and will see heavy delays in both directions. This is because the Redheugh Bridge is closed due to an overturned lorry. Police expect Redheugh Bridge to remain closed for the rest of the day.
There is also a sliproad closed on the A1 at Dunston but the road itself is open to traffic.
Rail
National rail trains are cancelled between Newcatle and Edinburgh, and all train services in Scotland have been suspended.
All national rail train services in the region are operating to a 50mph speed limit with delays and cancellations to be expected. Please use this address for latest information:

Metro
Tyne and Wear Metro is running to all stations, with minor delays between Airport and South Hylton due to a signal fault.
