Fighting and Fornicating with the Trolls of Nordic Folklore

Fighting and Fornicating with the Trolls of Nordic Folklore will be on the menu at Blackfriars next month as Dr Eleanor Barraclough, Durham University’s Institute of Early and Medieval Studies will discuss the ominous presence of trolls in the northern cultural imagination. Fresh from presenting a radio documentary on the 'Supernatural North', BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker Dr Eleanor Rosamund Barraclough will explore the culinary habits of the troll, from the unsavoury troll feasts of the medieval Icelandic sagas down to modern incarnations of trolldom such as Tolkien's The Hobbit, Tove Jansson's Moomintrolls and Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. The cost of the event is £25pp including a three course lunch.
