Ho, Ho, Ho – Festive Fun Returns at Newcastle Christmas Village

Festive movies, cooking up a treat with Mrs Claus, live shows and a giant Ferris wheel are just some of the amazing events which will make the return of this year’s Newcastle Christmas Village one to remember.

As part of the city’s huge celebration to mark the festive season, NE1 and Newcastle City Council have once again teamed up with organisers EVNT Inspirations to deliver another family-friendly experience at Old Eldon Square.

From the opening day on 19 November right up until 31 December, Newcastle Christmas Village will be open daily with a packed programme of entertainment, designed to get everyone in the festive spirit.

Storytelling sessions in the tipi courtesy of Santa Stories will be accompanied by a special photo opportunity and the chance for children to help Father Christmas with the official Nice List.

And the ever-popular Rockin’ Reindeer stage will be alive with great musical performances around The Grinch, K-Pop and Christmas with the Stars, with the opportunity to join in the singing and dancing.

Mrs Claus’ Bakery will be open for business, where Santa’s wife and her helpful elves will invite youngsters into her kitchen for a cookie decorating session, along with creating magical fairy dust.

Returning again is Marshmallowland, where visitors will be able to toast marshmallows over an open fire and Festive Flix, a programme of feel-good Christmas films featuring favourites such as Home Alone, Elf, The Grinch, The Greatest Showman and Love Actually.

The vintage festive carousel will return, along with the Ferris Wheel and a range of food and drink outlets, to make sure it’s a packed day out for everyone.

Nigel Holliday of EVNT Inspirations said tickets for all of the attractions were now on sale so that people wouldn’t miss out.

“All of the attractions sell out every year so we’ve now put all of the tickets on sale so people can buy them nice and early and have something to look forward to,” he said.

“We don’t want anyone to wait until the last minute and be disappointed.

“We’re very excited to be involved in Newcastle Christmas Village once again and be part of the spectacular celebrations taking place across the city.”

Ben Whitfield, Director of Communications at NE1 encouraged people to get their tickets as soon as possible, given the success of previous years.

“ From the real Father Christmas to Mrs Claus’ bakery and the traditional Ferris Wheel, they all play a crucial part in creating Newcastle’s unique Christmas Market experience, with a host of festive fun for families to enjoy in the heart of the city centre.

“Over the last two years we’ve seen a huge rise in the number of people coming to the city to enjoy the market and all the festive fun, and we’re looking forward to it being even bigger and better this year.

“We would strongly recommend that people plan ahead and book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

Santa Stories within the Christmas Village will run until Christmas Eve with the rest of the Village remaining open until 31 December.
