To mark the release of Jordan Peele's latest film Nope, Tyneside Cinema have curated a programme of movies celebrating how black filmmakers have harnessed genres like horror, sci-fi, Western and fantasy to tell bold and original stories that subvert the cinematic status quo.
Taking place from September to early November, Set it Off - A Tribute to Black Genre Cinema boasts a packed programme of films from directors including Spike Lee, Sidney Poitier and, of course, Jordan Peele. Read on for the full film line-up.
