Explore the future of civilisation through film, discussion and technology with Tyneside Cinema's new annual programme End/Future.
Exploring everything from environmental crises and human impact to end-of-the-world scenarios and possible utopias, End/Future is the story of how cinema imagines our collective future.
The programme is split into three sections of screenings, discussions and live events taking place over three weekends
Part 1: Tipping Point – Life in a Time of Crisis (9-12 March) focuses on environmental crises, covering topics including the impact of climate change in the North East and climate anxiety.
Part 2: Imagined Futures – Cinema vs The End of the World (16-19 March) looks at how film imagines the end of civilisation, from Hollywood disaster flicks to apocalyptic survival movies.
Part 3: A Guide to Saving the World (23-26 March) explores how film anticipates our collective future, from green technology to political revolution.
Film tickets cost just £6 and several free events are available. Visit www.tynesidecinema.co.uk/film-seasons/end-future/ for the full End/Future line-up.
