A sparkling new production of Shakespeare's tale of love, revenge and forgiveness brought to the stage by award winning director Phelim McDermott (Improbable).
Prospero has been robbed of his dukedom by his own brother, Antonio. Banished to an enchanted island with his daughter Miranda, Prospero patiently plots his revenge. Conjuring up a terrible storm, he shipwrecks the usurping Antonio and his entourage on the island, before playing havoc with their reality. The arrival of The King of Naple's son Ferdinand awakens Mirandas first feelings of love. Helped by the magical sprite Ariel and hindered by the lecherous creature Caliban, Prosperos plot unfolds as he manipulates the castaways towards a terrible reckoning. How much can you risk for revenge, or love?
Widely considered to be Shakespeares final play, The Tempest combines magic, drama, romance and comedy. This new ensemble production contains visual treats, original music, plenty of mischief and a whole lot of wizardry.
Improbable is one of Britain's most inventive theatre companies, and its Artistic Director Phelim McDermott has an outstanding international reputation for a wealth of productions including Shockheaded Peter and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
