Between Worlds: Outsourcing Dementia Care: Northern Stage
This Event has passedBetween Worlds explores the outsourcing of dementia care from Germany, Switzerland, North America and the United Kingdom to Thailand. This new work, sitting at the crossroads of performance, film, journalism, and social science, brings together a unique collaboration between Costa Compagnie and social scientists from the University of British Columbia and Newcastle University. The team spent three weeks filming and researching in care facilities in Chiang Mai.
Between Worlds performs interconnected, lived stories of dementia care within an immersive staging. Atmospheric images are inhabited on stage by three performers (from Thailand, England and Germany), who weave conversational threads from interviews into an essayistic narrative that conveys the experiences of caregivers and caretakers, management and family members. In the light of a mountain forest, stories of caring, of new intimacies and of loss unfold.
