Sign language is not universal – hundreds of different types are used throughout the world, but could there be one common system that everyone could understand?

Join Annelies Kusters, Professor in Sign Language and Intercultural Research at Heriot-Watt University to discuss how International Sign Language could be the answer to global communication.

Illustrated with clips from ethnographic films that Annelies has directed, this lecture will also be live signed and have closed captioning.
