Blackwell's Newcastle: The Fall of the Berlin Wall - Dr Hester Vaizey at the Curtis Auditorium: Newcastle University

This Event has passed
When the Berlin Wall fell, and German reunification followed, a whole country was wiped out as East Germany was effectively taken over by West Germany. Dr Hester Vaizey, Lecturer in Modern German History at Clare College, Cambridge, will discuss how life changed for East Germans once the Wall fell: the world they left behind, and how they coped with the transition from communism to a Western consumer society. This is a free event, no pre-booking required. Part of Newcastle University's  Insights Public Lectures series.
