Dirty Electronics and Tim Shaw - Beyond the Loudspeaker: Newcastle Contemporary Art

Catch collaborative duo John Richards (Dirty Electronics) and Tim Shaw's new exhibition at Newcastle Contemporary Arts.

Beyond the Loudspeaker is a performance-installation exploring ways to produce electronic sound without the use of conventional loudspeakers through high voltage sparks, plasma speakers and electromechanical devices to excite objects and summon sound with sequences of charged Xenon camera flashes, Franklin bells, Jacobs Ladders and electromagnetic pumps fed through.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, there will be a durational performance by Richards and Shaw on Thursday 7th March between 5pm and 8pm.

Suitable For

This exhibition will contain flashing lights so may not be safe for people with epilepsy and other light sensitivity conditions.
