NOVUM: Newcastle Civic Centre
This Event has passed
After an epic first edition last year, NOVUM festival is returning for 2024 and it's going to be even bigger and better!
The multi-artform festival is set to once again turn the city into a cultural playground with everything from poetry to performance and music to large-scale installations happening in and around Newcastle Civic Centre.
Top-class music acts from the region and beyond including India Arkin, Ruth Lyon and DJ Yoda will be taking over the Civic Centre’s Banqueting Hall with tickets priced from £15, but a whole host of other fun events are completely free to attend.
Circus artists from Bristol-based Cirque Bijou will put on a breath-taking aerial show featuring live music, acrobatics and a flying piano in the Civic Centre Gardens while the Great North Museum: Hancock will host ‘Shrink 01995’ - a work by Belgian artist Lawrence Malstaf where people from local communities become living portraits in an awe-inspiring exhibition that sees them vertically suspended in vacuum-packed plastic sheets.
That’s just the tip of the NOVUM iceberg too with tonnes more going on over the weekend – from free music gigs and dance performances to family-friendly workshops and much, much more. Check out the full programme at www.novumnewcastle.com.
