Haxan: A History of Witchcraft + live soundtrack: Newcastle Castle

This Event has passed

Following their performance of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari on 30 October, The Old Police House Collective will return to score another silent horror classic.

Häxan is Benjamin Christensen’s legendary 1922 film, subtitled ‘A History of Witchcraft’ for later releases. Memorable scenes include grave robbing, torture, possessed nuns, and a satanic Sabbath. Just the ticket for such an atmospheric venue!

Dramatic vignettes are used to illustrate the cases of real-life ‘witches’ during the Middle Ages. Far from taking itself too seriously however, the film is a witches’ brew of the scary, gross, and darkly humorous.

Courtesy of musicians from the Old Police House in Gateshead, you can expect machinery, guitars, feedback, recorders and live vocals in another extraordinary 360° live soundtrack.
