Newcastle Mela: Exhibition Park

An exhibition of riotous colour, drumming, music and costumes is back in the guise of the Newcastle Mela taking place on 26th and 27th August 2018 at Exhibition Park.

The Mela promises to be a day filled full of fun, with music, games, stalls and exhibitions to help everyone have a great weekend. A grand stage plays host to musicians and dancers and there are hundreds of stalls selling arts and crafts; food and drink and a children’s programme to help its audience learn, make friends and have fun. There’s plenty to do for everyone whatever your taste.

Celebrations are intrinsic of the sub-continent’s fabric. Each year Newcastle Mela is a feast of sights, smells, sounds and tastes. Furthermore, it often feature bazaars, folk troupes, traditional and contemporary and modern music and dance.

To celebrate the Newcastle Mela’s 25th Anniversary, a special parade will take place on Sunday 26th August, winding its way from the city centre up to Exhibition Park – and you can take part!
