Cellodees "Our Big Gig": Church of St Thomas the Matyr

This Event has passed
"Our Big Gig" is a nationwide celebration of community music making. Cellodees are a regular group of cellists who meet to play specially arranged music for Cello Orchestra. We invite cellists to join us to create a massive group of players. We especially encourage adults to return to playing the cello, and there are a number of cellos to borrow on request. Music is also available, and the standard ranges from easy to difficult to suit everyone. The group play music by Bach, Telemann, Schumann, Piazzolla, Apocalyptica and others. At lunchtime there will be a scratch performance of iconic 60s piece "In C" by Terry Riley for up to 35 players of any melody instrument. This will be followed by a performance by the Semitones, a community orchestra and Live Rhythms, a group of musicians who play for 5Rhythms dancing.
