The approach to Roberts work is all about being in the moment, the act of making the work and giving himself over to the process and the chemistry which he has nurtured over the years. He says: "I wanted something loose and expressionistic yet also controlled and detailed work that looks like it was done quickly but on inspection reveals that every brushstroke is considered and meticulously painted. Loose and free but in fact complex is what nature is all about.
