Newcastle’s reputation as a party town is well-founded, and the city centre is full of versatile and eclectic venues ready and waiting to host your next shindig.

WC Newcastle, Bigg Market

It’s not often you can party in a renovated underground ‘water closet’, so WC Newcastle is definitely a venue with a twist! This 130 year old subterranean wine and cocktail bar can host 55 of your nearest and dearest, and caters for every special event you can think of. Plus, as part of their private hire booking, you can even pre-order your guests’ welcome drinks to get the night started right!

ChachaBuchi, Collingwood Street

A chic hideout with rustic glamour, ChachaBuchi prides itself as a grown-up playground. The venue’s mezzanine is available to book for up to 120 guests, and comes complete with its own bar, shuffle boards (or beer/Prosecco pong table, depending on how classy your event is!), and you can even book your own private ski chalet for 75 people.

Redhouse, Sandhill

Hire your own slice of pie heaven at Redhouse on the Quayside. Expect delicious pies baked in nearby Jesmond, and a range of welcome drinks including cocktail carafes and buckets of beer! If you’re looking for somewhere with the wow factor, Above has you covered. The spectacular rooftop venue at The Vermont Hotel offers unrivalled views across the city, and is the perfect destination for that special celebration, with private hire packages including a maximum capacity of 300 and prices starting at £39.95 per person. An adaptable layout, bespoke lighting, quality service and delicious food comes as standard. There’s also an option to hire the outdoor roof terrace on its own, with prices starting at £34.95 per person.

Howlers, Collingwood Street

This is one for the liveliest of get togethers! Perfect for stag and hen parties, and home to Newcastle’s only ball pit bar, the biggest venue at Howlers can hold up to 150 guests, or you could book just the ball pit and a private area. Crowd karaoke, a slice bar and bonkers live entertainment will make it a night to remember!

Maldron Hotel, Newgate Street

Ideally located in the heart of the city, Maldron Hotel’s excellent range of suites and meeting rooms areideally suited to a smart corporate event. The suites are fully kitted out with 75 inch plasma screens, air con, free WiFi, and a break out area with plenty of refreshments. Events suiting 40 guests are perfect for the Dobson and Stephenson Suites, while the Grainger Suite has a capacity of 80.

According to this smart city centre bar, You Only Live Once – meaning it’s the perfect place to have that once in a lifetime party! Spread over three floors on Newcastle’s historic High Bridge, the venue has special areas perfect for private hires, with booths, snugs, real brick walls, minimalist décor and bespoke packages. The Parlour hosts 50-75 guests, while the Roof Terrace is perfect for an intimate gathering of 15-35 guests and comes with a retractable roof and all-important heaters! Give your party a Latin flavour thanks to Castro’s Rum-Bah Room, which can host 130 guests. It’s a bar with style, sass and a hint of attitude, not to mention a tantalising menu of Cuban-inspired delicacies, mouth-watering cocktails, the city’s most extensive collection of rums and the option for self-serve kegs. Twenty Twenty, Bigg Market

Pizza professionals and cocktail conassieurs Twenty Twenty are not only home to some bangin’ food, but excellent private hire opportunities too! Whatever you’re celebrating, there’s no hire fee, 90 person capacity, delicious buffet food options, and the chance to have your own DJ or playlist. Book quirky basement room The Arches to enjoy a full size bar, dedicated toilets and a 2am licence, or book the entire venue – it’s entirely up to you!

Dakota Dakota

Dakota Hotel Newcastle, Quayside

Whether it’s a corporate away day or networking event, Newcastle newbie Dakota has plenty of unique event spaces to check out. The Tyne Suite can accommodate up to 60 people, with the cosy Library able to host about 30. Meanwhile, private dining areas, The Champagne Room and The Boardroom are ideal for more intimate events, from around 8-15 people.

Gunner Tavern, Neville Street

Offering a modern take on the traditional pub vibe, Gunner Tavern is the ideal spot for big casual catch-ups! Private hire events are hosted in their raised area at the back of the venue – which has space for about 70 people – and you’ll have the option to add arrival drinks, buffet food or private dining too. That’s not forgetting that it’s just over the road from Central Station, perfect if you’ve got anyone on the guest list coming from further afield.
