Valentine’s Day is also a big day for the restaurant industry and many offer special Valentine’s Day meals in Newcastle – we’ve rounded up some of the best!
The Botanist, Monument Mall
The Botanist is certainly pulling out all the stops for Valentine’s Day this year. Their sharing menu for two includes a selection of starters, their famous hanging kebab, and a limited edition Valentine’s pudding – served with two spoons, of course!
Miller & Carter, Mosley Street
Adopting the mantle ‘masters of romance’ for Valentine’s this year, steakhouse chain Miller & Carter have a week-long special three-course menu to tempt all the lovers. From £43.50 per head, guests can dine on such delights as baked camembert, 8oz fifty day aged sirloin, and millionaire chocolate fondant. Or you can really aim to impress with the Valentine’s Sharing Steak Experience: a mouthwatering selection of their finest cuts with delicious sides and bottomless steak sauce for £95, or £135 if you'd like to throw in a bottle of luxury wine.
Côte Brasserie, Grainger Street
This Valentine’s Day, Côte Brasserie’s writing a love letter to the French classics with a two or three-course set menu to share with your amour. Dine on potted crab, salmon béarnaise, and white chocolate and passion fruit mousse for two. After something even more special? Why not upgrade your mean to the Côte de Boeuf – a 22oz rib-eye made for sharing – and wash it all down with a cherry blossom spritz.
All Bar One, Grey Street
Grab a booth and cosy up inside All Bar One on Grey Street, where you can enjoy four small plates from just £45. Oh, and did we mention that it includes two glasses of Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut Champagne to cheers to your romance with as well? Talk about a great offer!
Chez Mal Brasserie & Bar, Newcastle Quayside
Meanwhile over at the Malmaison, it’s Malentines this February! Designed for diners looking to turn the traditional Valentine’s Day meal into more of an experience, they’re offering a three-course Veuve Clicquot dinner paired with three perfect drinks, an overnight stay, and a full cooked breakfast the next morning.
Bar + Block, Newgate Street
This Valentine’s Day, Bar + Block are sharing the love with two courses plus a cocktail for only £30. There’s a delicious range of dishes to pick from, including padron peppers, rump 8oz steak, and lemon and raspberry semifreddo. The “Be My Valentine” cocktail doesn’t sound half bad either, with pink gin, raspberry syrup, prosecco and a splash of soda – but there’s a non-alcoholic version too if you (or your lovebird!) would prefer.
Café Andaluz, Grey Street
A wonderful oasis of Iberian charm in the heart of Newcastle, Café Andaluz is always a recommended destination, but even more so for Valentine’s Day. Their Valentine’s sharing menu – priced at just £32.95 per person – offers a choice of three tapas dishes and a dessert each. Think everything from berenjena al horno (baked aubergine) to calamares fritos (crisp-fried baby squid), albondigas (traditional spiced pork and beef meatballs) to chorizo al vino and sweet treats including crema catalana (traditional crème brulee) and pastel de limon y queso (baked lemon and vanilla cheesecake).
Blackfriars, Friars Street
Taking a loved one to Blackfriars is an excellent way to give a Valentine’s Day meal a sense of grandeur, with everything from the surroundings to the food offering something really special. Their Valentine’s Day Chef Table event on 13th February simply adds to the occasion: for £125 per person you and your love interest can feast on a six-course meal prepared at your table by your own personal chef! This is Valentine’s for foodies, with dishes likely to include canapés, amuse bouche, starter, fish course, palette cleanser, meat course, pre-dessert, dessert, cheese and coffee. And your sommelier will take care of the drinks pairing for each course.
3SIXTY, Rutherford Street
What could be more romantic than a Valentine’s Day meal, we hear you ask? Well how about a Valentine’s Day meal twenty-six stories high, with awe-inspiring views across the entire city? Well, that’s exactly what 3SIXTY will be offering, with their Valentine’s Set Menu for just £29.95. And there’s a complimentary Valentine’s bellini included too – talk about brining your romance to new heights!
Dobson & Parnell, Queen Street
Dobson & Parnell proves once again that casual dining doesn’t mean you compromise on fine food, with a delicious Valentine's tasting menu this February. From just £85 per person, you can your loved one will work through seven dishes, from hand dived scallop and fillet of beef to rose water pannacotta and 72% chocolate tart. Plus, there’s the option to add the perfect wine pairing for only £50 across all seven courses.
